For North America, the electric Hummer is the first of a promised 20 or so GM EVs based on the company’s new Ultium battery and powertrain technology. Before Tesla, they were seen as nerdy golf carts, far from usable as “real cars.” It’s a major reboot of a controversial name that retains a following 10 years after its demise.

Can one revive a mostly dead battery? Above is a picture of a heavily sulfated 8-volt golf-cart battery I acquired yesterday. Just off to the right of the battery I've attached the $250 "Cadillac of Desulfators" and it's merrily buzzing away along with a 1-amp trickle charger. They also started around 7.65

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles.
