GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. Batteries not ready. Hyundai Partnering with Korean battery companies for hybrids.

(Last year Oregon had also aggressively negotiated with the Chinese carmaker, BYD , to manufacture its line of plug-in hybrids in the state for sale in the U.S.) Next post States’ Proposals for Gas Taxes Sputter 11 Comments 1. So imagine a million electric cars on US roads which all need to change these batteries in say 2015.
