Starting this year, thousands of battery-powered electric drive Volkswagen vehicles capable of both loading and offloading current—bidirectional charging, as industry calls it—have been rolling off production lines in eastern Germany. Volkswagen's current ID models with 77 kWh battery option now come ready for bidirectional charging.

Volkswagen , Nissan , and Hyundai have moved to produce the kinds of cars that can use such bidirectional chargers—alongside similar vehicle-to- home technology , whereby your car can power your house, say, during a blackout, as promoted by Ford with its new F-150 Lightning. Green dots are possible sites for future charging stations.

"The Volt continues to be one of our highest priorities among all GMs future product programs and remains on track for a November 2010 launch," spokesman David Darovitz told Automotive News. Volt like hybrids are the intermediate future between hydrogen or fast charging electric cars. So I think its a safe bet for GM.
