Volt like hybrids are the intermediate future between hydrogen or fast charging electric cars. Think of driving any vehicle in the hot Los Angeles summer time. Toyota Prius modders have already been adding larger batteries so the vehicle can run on battery power. So I think its a safe bet for GM.
