Nissan unveiled the Frontier Sentinel, a concept pickup truck designed by Nissan Brazil’s styling studio, at the 2018 São Paulo Motor Show. Frontier Sentinel integrates a host of features, including two battery packs from the Nissan LEAF to deliver auxiliary power. Argentina will join the program in 2019.

The hybrid system combines a Cummins diesel engine with an electric motor that has a peak power output of 44 kW. Eaton matches the system to an automated six-speed Eaton transmission and stores energy in a lithium-ion battery pack.

A local hardware store, Jerry’s Do It Best Hardware, demonstrated and invited locals to try out electric lawn tools. Don Pinkton and Daryl Thayer took apart a Tesla motor to show people the “guts” of EVs and how they work. Forty postcards were completed!
