The Mitsubishi Motors i MiEV city car was announced as the winner of the Japanese Car of the Year ‘Most Advanced Technology’ award yesterday at the 41st Tokyo International Motor Show 2009. In addition, the i MiEV can be fast-charged from flat to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes.

MMNA) is reducing the price of the MY 2014 i-MiEV battery electric vehicle by 21% ($6,130) from the previous 2012 vehicle and delivering an expanded standard equipment package with it. After factoring in the Federal tax credit of $7,500, the net MSRP of the 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV drops down to only $15,495. B”-position.

From where I sit (in the driver's seat of a NiMH powered Toyota RAV4 EV) this seems eminently practical. Mitsubishi's i-MIEV, an electric city car (using Lithium) about which much has been written (see EVWorlds report from Tokyo ,) is meant to go into production in Japan for Japan in 2009.

North American spec i-MiEV. Mitsubishi is positioning the North American i-MiEV electric vehicle as the most affordably-priced mass-produced EV available in the US. A redesigned center console featuring improved materials will also feature prominently on the new North American Mitsubishi i-MiEV.

To achieve its goals, Peugeot is relying on a new products strategy that includes electric propulsion (the i0n i-MiEV-derived electric car) and E-Vivacity scooter from 2010; diesel hybrid in the 3008 from 2011 ( earlier post) ; e-HDi (microhybrid) from 2011 on the entire diesel range; and a plug-in diesel hybrid in 2012.

Citroën will launch its electric city car, the C-ZERO, developed in collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation from the i MiEV, in the fourth quarter of 2010. Maximum torque of 180 N·m (133 lb-ft) is available from 2,000 rpm. Range is around 130 km (81 miles) over a standard combined cycle. The Citroën C-ZERO.

C-ZERO, Citroën’s new all-electric four-seater city car based on the i-MiEV ( earlier post ), will make its world show premiere at the 88 th European Motor Show in Brussels, 14-24 January. Maximum torque of 180 N·m is available from 0 to 2,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear axle via a single-speed reduction gear.
