T&E study: EVs can be cheaper for Uber drivers to run than latest diesels in many European capitals

Medium-sized battery-electric cars are on average 14% cheaper to run than equivalent diesels today, if slow charging overnight near home and/or fast charging at preferential rates are available. The taxi and ride-hailing markets are best positioned to go fully electric first.

ITF report finds self-driving shared vehicles could take up to 90% of cars off city streets; total kilometers travelled increases

ITF researchers used actual transport data from Lisbon, Portugal, to modal the impact of two concepts: “TaxiBots”, self-driving vehicles shared simultaneously by several passengers (ride sharing) and “AutoVots”, which pick-up and drop-off single passengers sequentially (car sharing). New vehicle types and business models will be required.
