The vision is fuelled by the fear of climate change and the need to find green alternatives to dirty coal, unpopular nuclear power and unreliable gas imports from Russia. Even if you charge your EV with electricity made from coal fired generators you reduce your car’s pollution by half. But it would have made EV’s better for 10 yrs until now had they been available. Used Cell phone tower battery takeouts are inexpensive and available about everywhere if you call around.
