To achieve goals for climate and economic growth, “negative emissions technologies” (NETs) that remove and sequester carbon dioxide from the air will need to play a significant role in mitigating climate change, according to a new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

In the near term, the report describes a net-zero pathway that requires the immediate and massive deployment of all available clean and efficient energy technologies, combined with a major global push to accelerate innovation. It was requested as input to the negotiations by the UK government’s COP26 Presidency.

Appropriately using the slow-charging option available to all PHEVs, we can greatly increase the UF of the grid. The grid then becomes more efficient, thus reducing the cost of delivered electricity to everyone.
