In total, the South American automotive market is expected to grow 11% a year until 2030, making it one of the fastest growing markets in the world. To this end, we are investing one billion euros in South America by 2026.

Brazil, the largest and most populous country in South America, was importing 80% of its oil and 40% of its foreign exchange was used to pay for that imported oil. In 1975, General Ernesto Geisel, then-president of Brazil, ordered the country’s gasoline supply mixed with 10% ethanol.

We believe that a lot of car parts, including dashboards, bumpers, side panels, will be made of nano-sized fruit fibers in the future. But in the future, we may be able to replace steel and aluminum automotive parts using these plant-based nanocellulose materials. So far, we’re focusing on replacing automotive plastics.
