GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Ford Escape PHEV-40 around 2012. Shifted earlier focus to all-electric Focus in 2011 with Magna. todays answer is "Yes -- but not yet." No announced plans.

The Volt is, and always has been, more than than an electric car. GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. Ive found it facinating how car commercials changed the main MPG number they promoted before gas went over $4 a gallon as city miles.
