They wanted to see whether an electric vehicle could feed electricity back to the grid. The company’s president, Tom Gage , dubbed the system “vehicle to grid” or V2G. And EV owners would become entrepreneurs, selling electricity back to the grid. And indeed, that’s how promoters of vehicle-to-grid technology perceive the EV.

No less an auto industry titan as Ford has also made bidirectional charging a selling point of their F-150 Lightning electric truck, reportedly slated to roll off the lines this year. These V2H/V2G-enabled vehicles offer some three to 10 days powering the fridge and lights in case the power goes down.

Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technology is a bi-directional electric grid interface that allows a plug-in to take energy from the grid or put it back on the grid. Recent announcements demonstrate that electric utilities and some auto makers want to make V2G a reality. Smart meters and substations will be integral.

We should be concentrating on eliminating the hoggiest of the hogs by hybridizing them or reducing their acceleration which BY ITSELF reduces consumption since it leads drivers to unlearn stop and go driving, instead timing arrival at lights to when they are green. GM knows better and guards against making fraudulent claims.
