The US Department of Energy (DOE) is [link] about $11 million to 20 new projects to help states and local governments to develop the infrastructure, training, and regional planning needed to help meet the demand for alternative fuel cars and trucks, including vehicles that run on natural gas, electricity, and propane.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has opened its Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) Natural Gas Vehicle program. The program will provide an estimated $10 million in grants to help companies and organizations purchase or convert medium to light-weight natural gas vehicles.

The Toyota Highlander Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle – Advanced (FCHV-adv) ( earlier post ) achieved an estimated range of 431 miles on a single full tank of compressed hydrogen gas, and an average fuel economy of 68.3 Currently, hydrogen gas pricing is not fixed, but DOE targets future pricing at $2 to $3 per kilogram.
