The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach released the draft of their proposed 2017 C lean Air Action Plan (CAAP) Update. A preliminary analysis estimates the cost of implementing the 2017 CAAP at $7 billion to $14 billion. The document’s release kicks off a public review and comment period that extends through 18 Sept.

This is saying something, as she has ridden in or driven many of the 800+ cars I have reviewed for Clean Fleet Report over the past 10 years. One of the challenges Clean Fleet Report takes seriously is to test the EPA fuel economy ratings for the cars, crossovers and trucks we review, knowing efficiency is a top priority when looking to purchase a new vehicle. Because of this we don’t address issues such as long-term reliability or total cost of ownership.

We refueled with CNG twice; once locally (with a partial fill, more on this below), and once off the I-5 on the way up to Los Angeles. As with any alternative fuel, be it CNG, LPG, electricity, hydrogen or E85, one of the challenges facing its adoption is both the availability of the fuel as well as the mechanics of refueling.

It is rare when we post a review of a car that is only available in one of the 50 United States, but such is the case with the 2022 Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), which is only sold in California. Because of this we don’t address issues such as long-term reliability or total cost of ownership.

Kia realizes in a booming EV market (check out the competition list at the end of this review), it is not a good idea to have a model with the same design for too many years as consumers are looking for the next newest thing on wheels. We have reviewed and have been impressed with all the Kia hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles.
