Alternative Fuels Buy Climate Change Low Cost

The California Energy Commission unanimously approved funding of $35,031,310 to projects that will accelerate the development of green fuels and technology in California. These awards are provided through the Energy Commission’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program.

Buy-down incentives totaling $560,000 were approved for 35 alternative-fuel propane vehicles. These incentives help to pay the difference between alternative-fuel vehicles and conventional vehicles. Currently, these powertrains are primarily installed in shuttle buses and delivery trucks.

The alternative-fuel car evolved to reduce exhaust emissions and other problems derived from burning fossil fuels. The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), a subset of the electric car, combines a primary electric motor with a much smaller back-up engine fueled with a hydrocarbon/biofuel mix.
