The mild hybrid system consists of a 48-volt electrical system that allows the engine to shut off when not needed, increasing fuel economy. We can only speculate, but expect there to be a battery electric version of almost all the Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC makes. The EPA fuel economy numbers of 21 mpg city/26 highway/23 combined are almost exactly what we got covering 301 miles driving through Southern California. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the next generation RDX is a hybrid or plug-in hybrid to get that fuel economy into the mid-30 miles per gallon range.
