Just thinking about the crew of people needed to tramp around to change all those batteries is exhausting, and to actually do it would be prohibitively expensive and impractical. A much better way to conserve battery power would be to use none of it at all until the system actually had important data to transmit.

The 100 battery-driven electric Mercedes-Benz Vito E-CELL vans ( earlier post ) in use in Berlin and Stuttgart have covered 650,000 km (404,000 miles). In Stuttgart, the Integrated Concept for Sustainable Electric Mobility project (IKONE) is being funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development.

Most likely, the All American "Spirit of DC" made History again today -- becoming the first EVer Plug-in to be seen at Nogales High School.
