At this point, no one is wondering whether EVs are here to stay, but how soon will we get rid of petrol vehicles? In fact, before burning petrol, most vehicles ran on electric batteries. This prototype uses a lead-acid mixture. There were no recharging stations, so batteries needed to be replaced much more often.

Electric cars remain dependent on the development of better,affordable batteries. The hybrid models available today use lead-acid ornickel-metal hydride batteries that are are proven, reliable, and fairlycheap, but their limited storage capacity means that the cars’ driving rangeusing electricity alone is short.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. They leased a few (at a loss) to those that could afford it. We need an economy electric car that we an afford, not that nonsense.
