Cumulative global sales of all Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC)-produced hybrid vehicles—i.e., The RX 400h, launched in 2005, was the world’s first production full hybrid luxury SUV.

Cumulative sales in Japan of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) hybrid vehicles—including plug-in hybrids— reached 2.04 of the global total—followed by the RX 400h/RX 450h with 256,600 units (5.6%). Toyota has expanded its hybrid lineup to include minivans, SUVs, rear-wheel-drive sedans and compact hatchbacks.

Lexus is pricing the new 2018 RX 450hL three-row hybrid SUV—announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2017—with a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $50,620—$1,550 more than its gasoline-engined RX 350L AWD three-rowed sibling. The RX 450hL is set to go on sale at dealers in April.

Total combined Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicle sales in the US have topped the one million mark, according to Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA. In April 2005, Lexus introduced the crossover RX 400h, the world’s first hybrid-powered luxury vehicle. Two months later Toyota launched the Highlander Hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV).

The Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade two-mode full-size SUVs posted a combined 632 units, representing 8.4% The Highlander Hybrid sold 956 units, down 50.7%, representing 19.1% of all Highlander models sold. Sales of the non-hybrid Highlander dropped 54.1%

The Rx 400h posted 1,556 units, an increase of 28.5% General Motors. GM reported a total of 923 hybrid sales in January, including: 599 2-mode full-size SUVs (Tahoe, 299; Yukon, 168; Escalade, 132), presenting 8.0% The Highlander Hybrid posted 984 units, a 54.1% drop year-on-year, representing 17.1% to 5,757 units.
