JRC: 76.5% of world’s population in urban areas as of 2015

More than three-quarters (76%) of the world’s population now live in urban areas, according to the European Commission’s Joint Research Center’s (JRC’s) new Atlas of the Human Planet 2019. According to the Atlas, the most urbanized EU country is Malta, where 95% of the population live in urban areas.
