Researchers at the US Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory have discovered new details about biomolecules that retard oil production in plants. The biomolecule central to this study is the enzyme Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), which determines the rate of oil production. —John Shanklin.
