Replacing a gasoline-powered ride-hailing vehicle with an electric vehicle can deliver three times the carbon benefits of a personally owned electric vehicle, according to a study by a University of California, Davis, researcher of Uber and Lyft data. Ride-hailing vehicles travel more miles than personal vehicles, making them more efficient.

The ferries—with capacity for 50 cars and 199 persons—are designed by Multi Maritime. The first ferry is schedueled for delivery in May 2018. Odin’s Eye is a DC grid solution which allows for the use of variable speed generator sets. All three ferries will be capable of all-electric operation with fast charging.

We will work to develop systems to protect the infrastructure for fast charging: controllers, converters, and monitoring systems. Electric vehicles are potentially vulnerable to attacks via the charging stations that could lead to stolen personal and financial information, vehicle damage, or even attacks on the electrical grid.
