As part of the SCR technology, exhaust stream emissions were dosed with a mist of a urea substance, commonly known as “AdBlue,” which converted NO x into nitrogen, water, and small amounts of carbon dioxide. The dosing strategy varied injection levels of AdBlue into the exhaust system depending on whether the vehicle was being tested.

The Continental Super-Clean Electrified Diesel combines electrification-based engine optimization and an electrically heated catalyst integrated in the exhaust aftertreatment system to achieve a 60% reduction in real-world NONO x x emissions and a simultaneous 2% reduction in CO 2 emissions measured against the baseline Euro 6b vehicle.
