As expected, the combination of fewer diesel registrations and more SUVs continued to have an impact on emissions. Despite an increase of EV models contributing positively to emission levels, the move away from diesel had a negative impact, one that the market could not offset. Norway also lets EV use bus lanes and special parking bays making ownership more beneficial than ICE in the city, Norway plans to outlaw pure Petrol or Diesel vehicles in 2025 – the country with the earliest ICE free deadline and 5 years before the UK’s deadline. Norway made that plan back in 2016. Cliff edge.

Looking at the remaining fuel sales in December, HEVs clocked 9% share, versus 5% a year ago, while petrol lost 26 % market share(!), now at 24% (it was 50% 12 months ago), while diesel was down 15% in share, to just 18%. Looking at last month Best Sellers, the VW ID.3 Pl Model Sales 1 VW ID.3
