The electron flow goes via the car’s lithium-ion battery, in essence keeping it charged, and recombines with the protons and oxygen at the cathode. The only by products are water and a fair degree of heat, the latter indicating a degree of inefficiency and wasted energy. So why haven’t FCEV becoming as prolific as other electric cars?
