Perhaps no gas-mileage ratings have been as eagerly awaited this fall as those for the all-new 2015 Ford F-150 pickup. The redesigned full-size truck with an aluminum body and pickup bed was expected to get better gas-mileage numbers than earlier F-150s.

According to the latest annual life-cycle study from the Automotive Science Group ( ASG ), the all-new lightweight aluminum 2015 Ford F-150 leads the full-size light-duty truck competition in all environmental and economic performance areas; accordingly, ASG selected the F-150 as its Best Full-size Truck of 2015.

The MY 2015 Ford F-150 will offer a new high-output, twin-turbo 2.7-liter Due to the extensive lightweighting in the new F-150 ( earlier post ), this will improve the power-to-weight ratio of the 2015 truck by 15% over the 2014 5.0-liter liter V8-equipped F-150 with similar torque output.

Specifically, Westport secures its position as Ford’s largest partner under the Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) program with more than 10 products and approximately 150 Ford authorized dealerships. Clean Energy will provide 750,000 GGEs (gasoline gallons equivalents) of CNG, to be used by Westport as marketing and “bundling” incentives.
