The California Energy Commission recently approved seven awards totaling $29,675,072 and that are funded through the Commission’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (AB 118), completing the first two years of the program funding cycle. USA Waste of California ($489,040 - Match Share $1,051,021).

Airbus, Air Canada and BioFuelNet Canada , hosted by Montreal’s McGill University, have formed a partnership to assess Canadian solutions for the production of sustainable alternative jet fuels with the long term goal to supply Air Canada. The first assessment is expected by the end of 2013.

For the current fiscal year, 2012-2013, the program is slated to invest approximately $90 million to encourage the development and use of new technologies and alternative and renewable fuels, with the goals of reducing petroleum dependence, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving air quality.
