is hoping to launch the Volt in late 2010 with a price tag of about $40,000. So what I see is that even if GM could sell its Volt platform vehicles in 2010 and at HALF its expected pricing, it would only leave it in with a pack of at least 4 other major players and all selling hybrid models much cheaper than GM.

"The Volt continues to be one of our highest priorities among all GMs future product programs and remains on track for a November 2010 launch," spokesman David Darovitz told Automotive News. If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. GM doesnt have a chance.
