At the North American International Auto Show in January 2009, Chrysler had introduced two new EV concepts and updates on three earlier EV concepts developed by the ENVI group. In April 2009, Chrysler unveiled four all-electric Chrysler Town & Country minivan concepts to the US Postal Service (USPS) in Washington, DC.

California-based Coulomb Technologies makes the program’s ChargePoint chargers, which were shipped to 130 customers in 2009.

The FCCC electric WIV also marks the first commercial vehicle application of a Tesla Motors Li-ion battery pack, which provide up to a 100-mile driving range on a single charge. Introduced at the Hybrid Truck Users Forum (HTUF), the MT-EV WIV features a lightweight, aerodynamic design for improved efficiency. Powered by Tesla Motors’ lithium-ion batteries, the chassis is 100% electric, including the HVAC system. The battery pack provides up to a 100-mile (161 km) driving range on a single charge.
