The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of grant funding to implement projects which reduce emissions from the nation’s existing fleet of older diesel engines. Region 2 (New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands) will accept applications requesting up to $2,500,000 in grant funds.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $50 million for clean diesel projects. From 2008 to 2010, EPA has awarded nearly $470 million to more than 350 grantees across the nation under the diesel emissions reduction program (also known as DERA). Diesel engines emit 7.3 Emerging Technologies grants.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of $26 million in grant funding to establish clean diesel projects aimed at reducing emissions from the US’ existing fleet of diesel engines. Funds awarded under this program cannot be used to fund emission reductions mandated under federal law.

Because of its high sulfur content, maritime shipping accounts for 8% of global emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), making the industry an important source for acid rain as well as respiratory diseases. The date of 2020 was agreed in amendments adopted in 2008. Heavy fuel oil (HFO) is the predominant marine fuel.
