In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. Batteries not ready. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009.

BYD makes about 80% of Motorolas RAZR handsets, as well as batteries for iPods and iPhones and low-cost computers, including the model distributed by Nicholas Negropontes One Laptop per Child nonprofit based in Cambridge, Mass.
