Maritz study finds growing but still low US consumer awareness about alternative fuel technologies; knowledge gap and confusion a sales challenge for OEMs

While awareness is high and knowledge has increased since a Maritz Research 2006 poll, few consumers today purport to be very familiar with either electric-only, flex fuel or gasoline-hybrid vehicles. Just 25% of respondents labeled electric vehicles a fad and said they would not consider purchasing this alternative fuel technology.
