The $787-billion stimulus bill (HR 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) that emerged from the joint House-Senate conference committee this week provides funds for a large range of transportation-related projects. The credit generally is available for vehicles purchased after 2005. The Senate bill carried no similar provision.
