EEA: increase in EU GHG emissions, mostly due to transport, hampers progress towards 2030 targets

The slight increase prolongs a relatively stable trend in emissions observed since 2014, after a 10-year period of almost continuous reductions between 2004 and 2014. In 2017, emissions covered by the Effort Sharing Decision (ESD) (including transport, buildings, agriculture and waste) increased for the third year in a row.

Ricardo investigating potential for its split-cycle engine in large engine market

In a poster-session paper presented at CIMAC Congress 2016 in Finland, Ricardo described the use of this split-cycle concept in high- and medium-speed engines for power generation to achieve efficiencies of 60% from units of 1–30 MW mechanical output. The benefits of a split cycle have been demonstrated numerous times by different bodies.
