The SMMT New Car CO 2 Report 2018: Driving the transition to a low carbon future showed that carbon tailpipe emissions rose last year for the first time in two decades by 0.8% These ongoing improvements mean average CO 2 is still a third (-33.1%) lower than in 2000. Alternatively fueled vehicles (AFV) registrations rose by 34.8%
