Toyota has officially released several vital statistics pertaining to this Prius PHEV including a first look into the expected emissions and ability to operate in electric only mode.

Among electric vehicles from automakers that report specific sales numbers for their EV models, the Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV was tops in the US in 2021 with 27,3707 units sold. Another top-selling EV beyond Tesla models that is not included is the Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV, which likely saw 2021 sales of between 20,000-25,000.

That’s not surprising—the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, the company’s only previous plug-in hybrid, is a well-executed PHEV with an EPA-rated 32 miles of usable electric range that retains all the virtues of the Pacifica minivan. It was all-new for the 2018 model year, and was engineered from the start to accommodate 2021’s PHEV version.

Other findings of the survey are: 83% of respondents drive 40 miles or less per day, and therefore would be well served by a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with a 40-mile range. The exception is the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHV), which has an electric range of 13 miles. miles per day.
