And yet, what about recharging? Can I get from Pittsburgh to New York's Hudson Valley—a trip I make a dozen times a year? John, I know you have a place in New York's Catskill Mountains, just down the ridgeline from the Hudson Valley, so you're sympathetic to my plight. That means I'd have to recharge at least once.

Plug-in hybrids differ from hybrids on the road today in that they can go longer distances on battery power and can be recharged via electrical outlets. All will qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit. NEV stands for neighborhood electric vehicle, which can travel at a top speed of 25 mph. Tags: Production News.
