The 100 battery-driven electric Mercedes-Benz Vito E-CELL vans ( earlier post ) in use in Berlin and Stuttgart have covered 650,000 km (404,000 miles). In the case of the 2017 Tubbs Fire, the 2018 Camp Fire, and the 2020 August Complex Fires, high winds blasted flames through populated areas in the early morning hours while residents were sleeping. Once the stimulus is removed, the metal finger reverts to its original shape and the switch opens.
