The Q5 handled the 7,000-foot ascent to Tahoe with aplomb and the Q4 navigated the local mountain roads like it was right at home.

In 297 miles of mostly freeway driving through Southern California we averaged 22.1 mpg, but did a bit better on a 207-mile freeway run with the smart cruise control set at 65 mph, achieving 25.1 Powertrain – 10 years/100,000 miles. In our mixed driving, which had significant motor regeneration due to mountain elevation and tight curves, we averaged 4 miles per kilowatt-hour (kWh). In 236 miles of driving through Southern California, and using the adaptive cruise control when on the freeway, we averaged 26.7 Powertrain – 10 years/100,000 miles. Basic – Five years/60,000 miles. Roadside – Five years/60,000 miles.
