Today's Junkyard Find is an example of the second type of Marauderization (not to be confused with Moroder ization ) within the world of Ford's Mercury Division. Starting in 1958, Ford's new MEL ( M ercury- E dsel- L incoln) big-block V8 engine was given the Marauder name when installed in Mercury models.

The original Ford Taurus first appeared as a 1986 model , going through three generations and nearly 10 million sales (counting the Mercury Sable ) before getting the axe in October of 2006. That made 2007 the final model year for the "real" Taurus, and I've found one of these rare cars in a New Orleans self-service junkyard.

Today's Junkyard Find , found in a yard just south of Denver , is a nicely preserved example of the final year of the S110 Silvia , as well as of the Datsun name. 1983 was the last year for those two cars, as well as for the rakish Ford Fairmont Futura coupe and its Mercury-badged sibling, the Zephyr Z-7.
