The interior is beautiful during the light of day, but reserve your approvals for the dark of night when the 64-color active ambient lighting (a $790 option) gives the S500 many different feels. Competing in the premium midsize SUV category, the 2021 Cadillac XT5 is right in the middle of stiff competition, including models from Acura, Audi, BMW, Genesis, Infiniti, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Tesla and Volvo. We were surprised to cross the 30 mpg mark for this 3,915-pound, five-passenger midsize SUV.

With this success you had better bet folks at Acura were careful when doing a light restyle for the 2022 RDX, with a refresh of the exterior, interior and suspension plus added standard technology. Running on unleaded premium, the EPA has rated the fuel economy at 19 mpg city/25 highway/21 combined. Where we did much better was on a 102-mile freeway run in either Eco or Smart mode and with the adaptive cruise control set at 65 mph, we achieved 27.5 The adjustable multi-color ambient LED lighting was soothing.

The one in WTF mode (Watts To Freedom in GM’s sanitized parlance) that takes the 9,200-pound pickup 0-60 mph in three seconds? If you have driven any electric vehicle, you know the acceleration is quick, with manufacturers trying to outdo each other with the shortest time to 60 or 100 mph. Like Nothing Else On the Road.
