Is an EV Genesis, the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Group, began this past week producing its first model in the United States at the sprawling HMG factory in Montgomery, Alabama. Genesis showed a pre-production 2023 Electrified GV70 at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show. The last one is no small thing.

For whatever reason, all EVs get the full $7500 applied to leases, however.

The high cost of manufacturing the Volt is exactly why the tax credits of $2500 for a vehicle with 4 kWh of battery capacity and $417 for every kWh over 4 (so that there is a $7500 credit for the Volt) were legislated. So the Volt would cost $32,500–not so much more than what people are reportedly paying for the Prius.
