Edison can typically achieve 80 miles on a full charge, and can be fully recharged in as little as three hours. Phase One of LCVPP offers subsidies to select public sector bodies, giving them the chance to purchase electric and hybrid vans at the same price as the equivalent diesel vehicles.

The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies. The program includes the installation of 10 alternative fuel refueling sites (two B20, one Electric Recharging, and seven CNG). Total DOE award: $15,000,000.

Soft” fleet orders are a critical component of the Plug-In Partners goal of demonstrating to automakers that a market exists for flexible fuel plug-in hybrids.
