intends to conduct a voluntary safety recall of potentially 17,000 2010 model year Lexus HS 250h hybrid vehicles to address a compliance issue with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 301. As part of its annual compliance testing program, the NHTSA recently conducted a test of the 2010 model year HS 250h.

The 2010 HS 250h, Lexus’ first dedicated hybrid and the fourth offering in its lineup ( earlier post ), will carry an MSRP for the standard version of $34,200, while the Premium model will carry an MSRP of $36,970. The HS 250h has the best combined EPA mpg rating of any luxury vehicle in the US.

Up to November this year Lexus had sold around 29,000 of its hybrid limousine in standard and LS 600h L long-wheelbase forms. The HS 250h saloon was Lexus’s first hybrid-only model, launched in Japan and North America in 2009, since when sales have reached close to 56,000 units. Introduction year. Audi notes that the Lexus HS 250h offers similar combined fuel economy with hybrid technology (EPA estimated 35/34 mpg US city/highway) but not the highway mileage range. The standard version HS 250h will have an MSRP of $34,200, while the Premium model will carry an MSRP of $36,970.
