From the sale of the first RX 400h in 2005 through to the end of November this year, Lexus has sold more than 506,000 of its hybrid vehicles. Cumulative global sales of all Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC)-produced hybrid vehicles—i.e., RX 400h/450h. Today, hybrids account for about 25% of all Lexus sales.

Sales of hybrid-electric vehicles in the UK have steadily risen over the past five years, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Of that number of hybrids, 77,000 were Toyota or Lexus cars.

Hybrid sales already account for 23% of Toyota Motor Europe’s (TME’s) total sales year-to-date. In August, Toyota Motor Corporation announced that Toyota and Lexus combined had sold more than eight million hybrid cars worldwide since the launch of the Toyota Prius in 1997. Two-thirds of the hybrid sales in Europe are made in Europe.

Cumulative global sales of Toyota Motor Corporation’s (TMC’s) hybrid vehicles—including plug-in hybrids— topped the 5 million unit mark as of 31 March 2013, reaching 5.125 million units. Last year, hybrid vehicles accounted for 14% of TMC’s global vehicle sales and 40% of its vehicle sales in Japan.
