As the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) architecture that underpins the new Golf A7 is so flexible, Volkswagen was able to integrate the lithium-ion battery in a space-saving frame in the vehicle floor, under the front and rear seats and in the center tunnel. The e-Golf is based on current 7 th generation Golf, itself based on the MQB toolkit.

It says the Volt is too little, too lateand too expensive to save the beleaguered automaker, and it recently chastised GM for pumping so much money into the Volt instead of developing more fuel-efficient gasoline cars. It offers 18 models that deliver 30 mpg or more. Thats short-sighted. GM is developing more fuel-efficient vehicles.
