During rush hour, the skies over a large city, such as Dubai or Madrid or Los Angeles, would swarm with hundreds, and eventually thousands, of eVTOL “air taxis.” These would be like mini airports where the eVTOLs would take off and land, be recharged, and take on and discharge passengers.

The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies. The program includes the installation of 10 alternative fuel refueling sites (two B20, one Electric Recharging, and seven CNG). Total DOE award: $15,000,000.

If we wanted to recharge this from 110V domestic service we would need to pull 10,800,000/110 = 96,000 amps. A visit to the gas station takes minutes not seconds and so the California Air Resource board, when it established fast charging standards, set the goal of charging the batteries to 80% in 10 minutes.
