They will buy a car and rent or lease the battery and the cost of leasing the battery will be the same as, or less than, the cost theyre paying today for petrol. People wont buy a full car.

If no one wants your car (because people think it sucks), then no one will buy it, regardless of how good the fuel economy may or may not be. GM is making strides increasing their cars fuel economy.
