In 2008 the company released a test fleet of 450 Mini-E vehicles and is getting ready to announce its second phase. In March, BYD chief executive officer Wang Chuanfu announced that in the first half of 2010 the company will sell only 100 e6 cars, to a taxi company in Shenzhen. The third phase will be released around 2015.

The first buyers will be fleet users, which will build central fast-charging facilities. Both will be sold first in China, primarily to fleet users: the government, post office, utilities, and taxi companies, all of which will build central fast-charging facilities.

The LEVC electric taxi might still be the only EV that both designed *and* produced on UK’s home turf. I finally got hold of reported total bus fleets and bus replacement rates in Europe. For reference, in Europe, whose overall bus fleet size seems 2-3x smaller than China’s, somewhere around 2-2.5k E-buses were deployed.
