With the deployment of 20 Catalyst buses, the University of Georgia will have one of the largest fleets of electric buses in the US, and will displace more than 2,500,000 gallons of diesel over the vehicles’ 12-year lifespan and eliminate more than 4,500,000 pounds of carbon emissions annually.

It uses an infrared laser sensor built into the windshield to monitor the area in front of the SUV when traveling at speeds of about 2 to 19 mph. If the speed difference between vehicles is less than 9 mph, City Safety helps drivers avoid some crashes altogether. It’s not designed to work at speeds faster than 19 mph.
